To adapt to
culture in Canada I often went to any store. In Canada when I enter the store,
some clerks say “Hello” or “How’s it going?” I think this is a good opportunity
to know about culture because in Japan most of clerks don’t try to take small talk.
However, I always really feel frustrated because I can’t understand what they
said due to my poor English. It is also true that this feelings give me
motivation to study English, so I will go to any store every weekend. Someday,
I want to talk with clerks such as other people in Canada.
By the way, I
began to watch TV drama, “Happy Endings” , which is popular drama in America,
to improve listening skill and to understand culture in North America. Exactly,
I can’t understand everything, so I watch same part many times. I believe this
is good method because I can study English while I enjoy watching.
In addition, I
will be able to understand culture by watching this drama. Sometimes I can’t
understand why many people are laughing. I think there are differences of humor
between Japan and Canada. Therefor I will be able to understand meaning of any
joke in Canada.
Most of clerks try to help us!
